Dr. Aoife Granville

Aoife is a performer, lecturer and researcher from Dingle who holds a PhD in Folklore/Ethnomusicology (Dingle Wren & European Carnival Cultures). She currently holds the post of Lecturer in Folklore/Béaloideas at the Folklore Department, UCC. Previously, she lectured at the Department of Music (UCC) and the International Centre for Music Studies at Newcastle University (UK).

Aoife is regarded as an influential figure in the contemporary Irish fluting tradition and is currently completing her third solo album. A regular contributor to radio and television, Aoife works and publishes in both Irish and English. She was appointed to the Board of the Arts Council of Ireland by Minister Martin in February 2022 and is a member of the Ionad Phoenix working group.
