Dr. Paddy Bushe

Paddy Bushe is a poet, editor and translator who publishes in both Irish and English. A member of Aosdána, he has lived in Iveragh since 1973. He has published thirteen collections of poetry, as well as several volumes of translations from contemporary Irish poetry. He edited Voices at the World's Edge: Irish Poets on Skellig Michael (Dedalus 2010) and Duanaire Mhaidhcí (Coiscéim, 2005)), a tribute to the work of Mícheál Ua Chiarmhaic of Ballinskelligs. He was recently awarded a PhD for his thesis, The Amergin Step: Explorations in the Imagination of Iveragh, a significant part of which explored the role of the O'Connell family as a major literary voice of Iveragh. It will be published in 2024.
