Porscha Fermanis is a Professor of Nineteenth-Century Literature at University College Dublin. Her current work focuses on empire, imperialism, and settler colonialism in the southern hemisphere, particularly on nineteenth-century settler fiction from Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Her most recent books include Romantic Pasts: History, Fiction and Feeling in Britain, 1790-1850 (2022), Worlding the South: Nineteenth-Century Literary Culture and the Southern Settler Colonies (ed. with Sarah Comyn, 2021), and Early Public Libraries and Colonial Citizenship in the British Southern Hemisphere (with Lara Atkin et al, 2019). Her latest book, Settler Fiction from the Southern Hemisphere, 1820-1890, is forthcoming from Oxford University Press.
