Professor Áine Hyland

Áine Hyland is Emeritus Professor of Education and former Vice-President of University College Cork, Ireland. She has published widely on the history of Irish education and on educational administration. She is a member of the Royal Irish Academy and in recognition of her contribution to Irish education, she has been awarded a number of Honorary Doctorates. Her talk to the Daniel O’Connell Summer School will focus on the implications for education of the partition of Ireland in 1922, drawing on original correspondence between the leaders of the Provisional government and the newly formed Northern Ireland Ministry for Education.
