Ciara Meehan is a professor and Dean of Students at University of Galway. A historian of 20th Ireland century, she has published extensively on the political and social transformation of Ireland post-independence. Her major works include The Cosgrave Part: a History of Cumann na nGaedheal, 1923-33 (Royal Irish Academy, 2010), A Just Society for Ireland? 1961-1987 (Palgrave, 2013), and Saving the State: Fine Gael from Collins to Varadkar, which she co-authored with political journalist Stephen Collins (Gill Books, 2020). Her most recent book, A Woman's Place? Challening Values in 1960s Irish Women's Magazines, was published as part of the Manchester University Press 'Gender in History' series in 2023.
