Professor Tim Lynch is the son of Professor Thomas Lynch RIP and Dr Sheila O''Donovan RIP, grandson of Justice Fionán Lynch (Kilmakerin, Co Ciarrai) and Bridget Slattery (Tralee, Co Ciarrai). He remembers Fionán as a kindly grandfather with a keen sense of humour. Along with his uncle, Dr Dermot Lynch, and first cousin, Mary Lynch, he co-authored a chapter describing Fionán's extraordinary life and career in the book Kerry 1916: Histories and Legacies of the Easter Rising 1916; Ed B McAuliffe, M Mc Auliffe, O'Shea.
Prof Lynch is a consultant Neurologist at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital; founder of the Dublin Neurological Institute at Mater (www.neurologicalinstitute.ie); Professor of Neurology and Vice Principal Health Affairs at University College Dublin; Adjunct Professor of Neurology at Columbia University, New York and Chief Academic Officer Ireland East Hospital Group (IEHG). He has a deep interest in education and research into brain and mind disorders and has published over 300 peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters.
