Theatre Historian, Independent Researcher and Archivist, Fiona Brennan, is a co-editor of The Art and Ideology of Terence MacSwiney Caught in the living flame (Cork University Press, 2022) and author of George Fitzmaurice “Wild in His Own Way”: Biography of an Abbey Playwright (Carysfort Press, 2005). She was a recipient of a Royal Irish Academy Decade of Centenaries’ bursary in 2023 and an Arts Agility Award in 2024. In September, Fiona will represent Ireland at the international conference, “Why Amateur Theatre Matters”. The event, which will be held in Venice, forms part of the European Research Council-funded collaborative project, “Performing Citizenship”, on the significance of amateur theatre’s role in the shaping of European societies, cultures, and identities. She is a Board member of the Drama League of Ireland and a Trustee and member of the Drama League of Ireland.
