Micheál Martin, the current Taoiseach, served as Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Minister for Defence from 17 December 2022 to 23 January 2025.
He had earlier served as Taoiseach from 27 June 2020 to 17 December 2022.
Earlier in his career, he was Lord Mayor of Cork (1992–93) and held four cabinet posts on the Fianna Fáil front bench:
- Minister for Foreign Affairs (2008–2011)
- Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment (2004–2008)
- Minister for Health (2000–2004)
- Minister for Education (1997–2000)
Born in Turners Cross, Cork, Micheál Martin studied at University College Cork, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.
