Mary O’Dowd is Emeritus Professor of Gender History at Queen’s University Belfast. Her publications have focused on the history of women, gender and social history in early modern Ireland. Her most recent book is Marriage in Ireland, 1660-1925, published in 2020 and co-authored with Maria Luddy.
Professor O'Dowd is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy and was Secretary of the Academy, March 2021-March 2024.
