Originally from Cork, gardening has been in my blood from an early age, my mother inspired me to follow an education and eventually a career in the horticultural and arboriculture world. One the last 30 years I have been so lucky to have worked in and managed some beautiful gardens and estates, notably Mount Stewart in Northern Ireland, Stourhead in Wiltshire and more recently working at Stourhead and Hidcote as Head Gardener overseeing both gardens for a period. The roles I have undertaken since early in my career have all presented me with amazing opportunities and I am always seeking to continue to be challenged whilst working in this environment and ensuring that beautiful places can continue to be conserved, understood and enjoyed. Because of this drive and passion to garden amazing places, my wife, son Oisin and I have come to Kerry to look after, renovate and share the magnificent gardens at Derreen.
