Dr Micheline Sheehy Skeffington is a plant ecologist who taught in the Botany Department, NUI Galway until she took early retirement in 2014. She specialises in wetland ecology, including turloughs, flood-meadows and peatlands and has published widely on these subjects.
A long-time member of the Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland, she is responsible for recording plants in SE Galway for the BSBI’s Atlas 2000 and Atlas 2020. She also has a long-term interest in Ireland’s Lusitanian flora and has published papers on a number of them, including the Kerry Lily.
